Tempus Cross Comes Home

I’m really excited to be showcasing Tempus Cross at the Frome Publishing Fair on Saturday July 4th, 2026, an event located just a few miles from the book’s setting. Whilst the various threads within the novel shift around a little (Guernsey, Southern Italy and much closer to home in Cornwall), Somerset remains the hub throughout the book – hence the ‘nods’ to many towns and landmarks in the area: Wells, Frome, Bridgewater, Glastonbury Tor, The Mendip Hills – to name a few.

Not being a local or native of Somerset, I did have some slight fears about coming up short in the eyes of the people who live there, hoping that my research and love for the county would see me through with regard to painting a fair picture of the setting for the book. Of course, starting by inventing a completely fictional town, smack in the middle of the county was always going to be open to scrutiny – especially a town inhabited by so many ‘off-the-wall’ characters (the last thing I wanted to do was give the impression that the people of Somerset were as quirky as this lot!).

Anyway, one of my hopes when writing Tempus Cross was that the story would hold a special appeal to those who live in Somerset – bringing the book ‘home’ for the Frome Publishing Fair will surely put that theory to the test. I’ve visited the FPF event in the past as an ‘observer’, taking the opportunity to chat to many of the creative authors, cover designers, publishers etc, but not as an author in my own right. I found the people I met there to be very lovely and welcoming. Once (if) some of them read Tempus Cross, let’s just hope they don’t run me out of town!!!
